If you have publicly traded securities you have the option of donating them to Children’s Health Foundation to support specialized child health care and research at Children’s Hospital, London Health Sciences Centre and the Children’s Health Research Institute.

Many investors have realized substantial capital gains in recent years and these capital gains can be offset by capital losses to minimize the tax investors will have to pay. Capital losses in Canada can be carried back 3 years and forward 10 years to offset capital gains.

You will save on any capital gains tax and get a charitable tax receipt for the value of the shares at the time of transfer.

Your generosity will help provide specialized equipment, programs and services at Children’s hospital and support breakthrough research into childhood diseases at the Children’s Health Research Institute.

For example:

$10,000 in shares could support specialized paediatric programs like Art Therapy, helping children with cancer cope and express themselves.
$50,000 in shares could support vital research into the causes, cures and prevention of childhood diseases like childhood cancer, cystic fibrosis and epilepsy at the Children’s Health Research Institute
$250,000 in shares could help purchase specialized paediatric equipment. Equipment for children is twice, sometimes three times, more expensive than for adults.
