We celebrated Mrs. Dorothy Palmer’s gift to the Children’s Health Foundation with a ceremony at Metcalfe Gardens in St. Thomas on Thursday, May 20, 2010.
John Palmer of Aylmer died last Christmas at the age of 91 years old.
He was a long-standing member of the Mocha Shiners and his widow, Dorothy made a generous donation of $300,000 to Children’s Health Foundation to honour the memory of her beloved husband.
To pay tribute to the Palmers, the waterfall, water feature and accompanying garden along the south wall of the lobby of the New Children’s Hospital and Grace Donnelly Women’s Pavilion will be named in John’s honour.
Mr. Palmer will also be honoured as a member of the Mocha Shriners with a mural being created on a wall in the Paediatric Orthopaedic area on level 2 of the new hospital.
