Children’s Hospital at London Health Sciences Centre is the regional paediatric referral centre for children's health care in Southwestern Ontario.

Formerly the Children’s Hospital of Western Ontario, Children’s Hospital offers a full range of clinical programs and services, family services and innovative programs for children from birth to their 18th birthday.

With the latest equipment and the best specialists, scientists and health professionals in Canada, Children’s provides an extensive range of specialties and subspecialties.

Doctors, children and parents all over the region and other community hospitals count on the specialized expertise available at Children’s Hospital. This is where the sickest children are cared for.

One of five centres in the province for specialized paediatric care, Children’s is the largest single site for acute hospital-based child health care in Southwestern Ontario, serving a population of nearly two million people, with over 400,000 children.

It is the designated referral centre for specialized consultative medical care for children in the region, and the academic paediatric teaching hospital of The University of Western Ontario.

Our new Hospital is underway

Our new Children's Hospital is getting closer and we’re excited!

On time and on budget – complete occupation of the new Children’s Hospital is scheduled for Spring 2011.

Since mid-2008, hundreds of construction workers have been on site daily converting 625,000 square feet of concrete shell into a centre of healing and hope. Inside those walls the New Children’s Hospital (and Grace Donnelly Women’s Health Care Pavillion) is fast becoming reality. As floors are completed, some department moves are being phased in. The Ear Nose and Throat (ENT) paediatric unit is already enjoying new larger, brighter space and the latest technologies.

Research has proven that scenes of nature in hospitals have a positive health impact. Patients recover faster, spend less time as inpatients, require fewer painkillers and have fewer post-operative complications. For those reasons, the interior decor in this new building is being themed to reflect the various basic elements of nature from stone, water and grass on the lower floors to sky, sun and space on the top floors.
