Finding the cure to a childhood disease can take decades. The Translational Research Centre at Children’s Health Research Institute is finding answers to treatment faster than ever before.
Thanks to the development of a Translational Research Centre (TRC) at Children’s Health Research Institute, research on childhood injuries and diseases will be applied to clinical treatments much sooner. Working on childhood issues such as traumatic brain injuries and mental health disorders, researchers benefit from a more efficient research process with easier access to data, tissue samples, facilities and equipment. By finding the answers to better treatment faster, children with critical illness and diseases will benefit from scientific findings sooner than ever before.
The only centre of its kind in Canada, the TRC focuses primarily on child health research and fosters greater collaboration between health care providers and researchers. By streamlining the research process including ethical consents, procuring samples and processing paperwork, the TRC will accelerate important child health research that would otherwise not occur.
